A350 for Gatwick

Cathay Pacific announced on Thursday that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service to London’s Gatwick Airport on 2 September 2016, subject to government approval. The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service to Heathrow Airport for a total of 39 flights a week between Hong Kong and London – more than any other carrier. In addition to serving London, Cathay Pacific also offers a four-times-weekly service between Hong Kong and Manchester in the United Kingdom.

Gatwick Airport is located south of London close to the town of Crawley in West Sussex. It is the second-largest international airport in the United Kingdom. The new service will provide passengers living in Greater London and the counties of Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Hampshire a more convenient way to travel to Hong Kong and via the extensive hub to Asia and beyond.

The Gatwick service will be operated by the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring a refreshed Business Class cabin as well as new Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats. Together with the premium service provided by Cathay Pacific’s cabin crew and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system in all classes, passengers will be assured of the best inflight experience when they travel between Hong Kong and London.

Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: “Cathay Pacific has been serving London for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market is very strong. We are delighted to launch a non-stop service to Gatwick, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK. These additional flights to London will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.”
