There is a big difference between the BBCs responsibility for its content and the idea that the BBC puts out content with a consistent political/ethical viewpoint.
It generally doesn't, though radio 4 tends to be too lefty for me.
Other programs tend to be more right.
Your mention of Peugeot is particularly apposite.
Peugeot makes cars.
It is, as you say, responsible for the cars made.
This does not mean Peugeot maintains a particular standard.
Some Peugeots are utter cr@p. (My wife had an awful 309!)
Some Peugeots are truly fantastic - 205 T16
