i just finished a tour up in the barrens to the east of Yellowknife and north of the east end of the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. the locals were saying that typical temps for Yellowknife at this time of year are in the area of -20 to -30 C. when i left last week it was -6 C and fog was creating lots of issues with ice and viz (obviously) and likely a result of extensive open water on Great Slave Lake.
anecdotal, of course but it is what i saw and was told highly unusual.
