Catch more girls with a boat I suspect than a gas smelling old airplane!
The few boats I have boarded smelled stronger and worse (diesel!) than the average spamcan. My own pride and joy is so draughty that any odours of fuel or perfume or whatever never last long - handy! But not tempting to classy ladies, I must admit.

I've seen such implements applied to gliders at my home field, too. They are however generally removed before actual flying starts. But then, of course, Belgians are universally famed for their superb handling of complex situations
