Owen C,

' probably used more by people from border areas rather than people living in Northern Ireland'

Seriously Owen C, people from border areas live in Northern Ireland and some on the Republic side. 'Probably' is nothing more than guesswork..

'Should be popular', the previous flights on this route were not well subscribed, often as few as 2-5 passengers. The UK is paying for this subsvension, while the Dublin Carrickfinn route is subsidised by the Irish government.

I don't see that they will take many passengers from Donegal route, have you ever driven to Carrickfinn, it's quite remote and caters for the locality. Besides the numbers who would be equidistant between the two quite likely to be very small numbers given the small size of these respective markets. Equally the prices in euro will be attractive to people in Eurozone area, so unlikely they will want to go to City of Derry which is on the east side of the city and pay a premium to pay in GBP£.

The Isle of Man route will be an interesting one, no doubt to facilitate the positioning of the aircraft over for the new route.

A Belfast city Cork route was well subscribed in its day, before the economic downturn and sometime before the crash. I'd have thought Stobart could have gotten in there... That may have been a sustainable route...
