Application of State law under diversity jurisdiction is a complete red herring here and you know it. The Union sought relief pursuant to the RLA and the Declaratory Judgment Act.
The Federal District Court wasn't going to make decisions based on Ohio law.
As for the rest, we will just have to wait and see how the court case will proceed.
