I just can't see why then you'd expose yourself to these individuals by pushing back. Is it really so much of a hardship to comply with what are actually fairly standard requests? EK is not unique. I can't see BA allowing their pilots to waltz through T5 with rucksacks and coffee, an airline that has introduced 'beyond the flight deck' to it's pilots and compulsory hats for cabin crew on the new contracts. It knows the importance of branding and has recognised the success this has brought to Emirates. Airlines know it's got cock all to do with individual flying ability and whether you're a 'nice' person or not. It's about selling the brand.
So, I comply not only because it's easy to do so and is generally professionally anyway, but more to avoid those power hungry tyrants the satisfaction of bollocking me for something so trivial.
If you want to expose yourself to that possibility then be my guest.
