Whilst I'm in no way sad to see him leave, I do wonder why people get so excited about some of these rules. Wearing a hat ruserious? Yes, it's part of the uniform and has been for the last 30 years! They provide it for free, they clean it for free so just wear it. Rucksacks? Save them for desert and mountain hikes. Providing a Wenger bag for all pilots (again, free), stopped those that continued to ignore the 'request' not to use them. And it's the same for drinking coffee in uniform whilst walking through the terminal in full view of passengers. Hardly a professional image, is it? We wouldn't expect to see the cabin crew doing it so why should we. Lead by example and all that? If you're really that desperate that you can't wait 10 minutes until you get on the aircraft, change career and open a coffee shop!
Feel free to begin the usual barrage of retorts but the really sad part is that there are a minority of our colleagues who find it so difficult to conform to even basic protocol that the need for these 'basics' have to be reminded to them....and everyone else too.
Don't blame Stealey, blame the minority of idiots that spoil it for everyone else.
