Does the old box still work if you plug it in? If so, the cabling to the wall and onwards is OK. I don't know your modem if it's not wifi. ZyXel tends two have two helpful lights on the front: DSL is up, and internetty stuff is possible. If you don't have the DSL light, it's almost certainly a physical problem rather than a configuration problem, unless you ISP has non-standard settings.
