I hate the way blame always seems to be laid at the pilots feet...Statements like 80% of crashes are due to pilot error, do nothing for the public or the profession.

The chances of an accident are so incredibly rare. The statistics are something like 1 per 2000000 flights have an incident. Well by my mind thats 1999999 where the pilots have done a bloody good job......

Where do we hear about that? 80% is a huge percentage scares the pants off the general public. But what about 0.00005% (1 in 2000000) and thats saying that every one of those 1 in 2000000 is the pilots fault, which it isn't even by the 80% statement.

Come on the incident rate can NEVER be zero and can always be improved but 0.00005% means that all in all pilots do a great job!
