I'm just curious to know why door tests on the A330 can't be done without gear lever movement. On a 747-400, for example, you can manually release the door, then pressurise the #1 hydraulics system... The door will go back up.
You
can lower and raise the doors independently of the gear. There are mechanical handles in/near the MLG and NLG thatwill release the door locks. Hydraulic power is necessary to move the handles to the closed position. You cannot put the handle to closed and then run up to the flight deck and put the hydraulic pumps on. A good safe system.
In this case however someone has deemed it necessary to cycle the gear lever by the looks of things.
