"4 engines" has made my underlying point much better than I did. Many in BA were whittering on about VA's imminent demise when I joined BA over 25 years ago, would quote all sorts of profit/loss figures and then go onto explain what was bound to happen to VA in the next down turn...
For those looking to get a foot in the door with a UK carrier I actually don't think there's much to choose between the two, and VS has it's positive points.
