Most of the pundits have referenced this above, and, of course, we don't know the "full" story, BUT, the word of concern from the original post is "Had" as in "Had to land..." Maybe you did not have sufficient fuel to divert, but if this had not ended as magnificently as it seems to have, you'd be up the creek wrt insurance if you blatantly ignored an aircraft limit.
