And no, I'm not casting aspersions on Manchester as a city, just suggesting that on a global (and Chinese public's perception) scale it isn't that important. Neither are any other UK cities outside London.
As a general point that far too may people and businesses in the world still look upon the UK as London and little else, I tend to agree. However, judging by the level of interest reportedly shown, investments committed and some projects started, it would seem there are elements in China who fortunately are aware there is life outside London.
And in the field of education, you may be aware of the significant number of Chinese students in cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, a good few of whom return to their homeland at the end of each term by way of CX's non-stop scheduled flights from Manchester.
