it's all about frequency, that's why we have no A380 as they'd rather fly 5x a day with a 777 than 2x A380 to somewhere like LHR.
Excellent point, especially as some connecting flights to/from HK might be infrequent. Doesn't really apply to Manchester yet, but I suppose a smaller plane seven days a week is better than a larger one four days a week.
