Glenforsa "midgie" Fly In

Flew over to Mull at the weekend for the vintage Piper fly-in, was treated to an elderly gentleman putting his Cub thru some well executed low level manoeuvres and met the former female UK aerobatics champ which was nice. While watching the cub the rain came on so we watched the remainder of the show sheltered under the Maule wing. Shortly after the rain stopped a squadron of midgies arrived and initiated an immediate attack. I decided to high tail it back to Forfar departing low level to buzz the ferry, I settled into a climb then realised some of those frigging midgies had decided to join me and were biting the s&@t out of me. Tolerating this for the flight home was not an option so I decided my best course of action was to climb up to FL110 where the OAT was reading -10c open the window and freeze the little bastards. Job done and a nice cruise home.

Looking forward to next year.
