I have always been taught to fly teardrop procedure for 60 seconds and then regain the outbound TRACK. for the remainder of the time.
If you would follow a 30° offset angle for the whole outbound time, you will go outside the racetrack area.
So:
Overhead time. 30° offset until time 60s and then fly the prescribed track for the remainder of the time (mostly 30s). Keep in mind the wind correction...
