Interesting read in some of the local news papers in Bristol that APD devolved to Wales could cost Bristol Airport and its economy 1 million passengers and £854 million. This is the number of Welsh passengers flying from Bristol. So Bristol Airport attracting Welsh passengers is costing the Welsh economy £854 million then. At least the Welsh Assembly have realised this and are trying to rebuild Cardiff Airport.

If Cardiff had closed it would then have cost the Welsh Econmy £1.8 billion from Cardiff's highest passenger figures of 2.2 million when BMI baby operated there. Good news at the moment is that Flybe seem to be doing well with cheap flights ie Millan £80 return at Cardiff whereas BMI regional at Bristol is £125.
