Clutching at straws or looking for a row while it is Europen Im sure many people both sides of the Irish Sea wouldn't really refer to UK or Irish airports as European airports as they are not on mainland Europe.
Anyway in my experience United dont really re route passengers if they know the aircraft will be repaired by next morning. They may allow some J passengers who request but nothing major. It would happen if departures ex US were cancelled.
