Nigel, I appreciate that flights should be busy in August but my impression is that this month has been noticeably busier than July, at least on certain routes. The CAA stats in due course will tell us whether that's true.

Edit: Hi Nigel. I should have checked last year's figures for July and August before posting, which showed Aug. performance in terms of LFs was appreciably better than July for MAN.

AA to ORD: (July'14 was 72%) Aug'14 was 81%

AA to JFK (July'14 was 79%) Aug'14 was 90%

UA to EWR (July'14 was 87%) Aug'14 was 96%

UA to IAD (July'14 was 75%) Aug'14 was 90%

In July this year, with all the extra capacity to JFK by TCX 3 x weekly, the new DL flight and larger AA a/c, I reckoned the LF overall was 76.4%. (on just under 32,000 seats available)

ORD worked out at 85.1% (well up on last year); EWR and IAD both 80%

Ultimately it's all about yield, premium seats sold, not forgetting freight etc. and LAX's comments above referred to the situation on VS to ATL where yield is allegedly up despite the fall in LF on the larger VS a/c compared to DL.
