Thank you all for your replies.
After your advice I have looked closer at Windows Media Player, and found that after 'Ripping' there are the same number of files as tracks on the CD. I have been able to transfer these files onto the USB stick, but when I try to play them on my Hi-Fi, there is no sound! Still not sure where I am going wrong.
Any further advice would, again, be welcome.
