Fuel burn difference is more like 200 kg/hr. The difference between flying the two gives different climb/flight/descent profiles.
An example, looking at the "Quick Determination of F-Plan" charts in the FCOM, for a 3200 nm sector M0.80 is 39802 kg with a time of 7:03. For M0.82 41102 kg with a time of 6:54. 1300 kg more for a savings of 9 minutes.
Assume a return trip a day (around 14 hours), 2600 kg savings a day per aircraft, 50 aircraft, 130t savings a day.

No probs, even two different tails in the same fleet with the same hardware can have different FM CIs for the same Airline CI due to the FM software version.
