More to it?

In that time we suspended doing multi sector red eye tours of duty (e.g. PER-MEL-SYD, PER-BNE-SYD, etc). I was told that was as a result of the study but don't recall ever having read the rationale.
I also heard from someone involved in assessing the "sleep diary" trials that results showed many of the patterned trips already being flown on other fleets too would be deemed "unsuitable" under an FRMS; that was code for "too expensive to restructure" due to;
- longer slip requirements, &/or
- heavier crew requirements more often, &/or
- any necessary schedule changes were not acceptable to 'commercial' priorities, &/or
- improved crew rest facilities on aircraft.
The insinuation was that precedent (we've been safely 'getting by' doing it like this forever) and commercial expediency won the day; the research was buried.
