Talking of embarrassment it is high time somebody gave Labour London a good kicking as well.
London was one of the few places where Labour didn’t get a kicking.

It's no secret that Andy Burnham detests DevoMan and the Labour run administration in the Republic Of Mancunia BUT that is no reason to let his constituents down !

Manchester AMD specifically Manchester Airport has to be his priority, LHR a secondary concern.
Because……..?

Same day as Manchester announces expansion of its terminals he makes a statement saying he is "in agreement" with expanding LHR , he is the MP for Leigh.....!

Burnham is a career politician parachuted into the safe seat of Leigh in 2001. He never seems to have supported the Airport or the North West and of course at the moment is trying to get as many votes as possible in the Labour leadership contest. Probably a few votes to be gained by supporting LHR which seems to be Labour policy - little to be gained by saying anything about Manchester.
Exactly, a career politician who wants to be Labour leader and eventually Prime Minister (even if it may be wishful thinking). To look like a Prime Minister in waiting he has to consider the national picture and what is good for the UK rather than take a parochial point of view.

This is where Miliband failed, he was/is so London-centric with no idea of what occurs throughout the country beyond London travel zone 1.

And then last week The Labour Party to a man were whipped into line to support LHR expansion, they did not have a clue what they were supporting other than an opportunistc attempt to give Cam a kicking in respect of Boris and Zac.
Don't forget that Labour actually took a decision (admitedly very late in the day (2009)) in favour of Heathrow rwy expansion. The trouble is that it was so late that the coalition was able to scupper it.

So, no opportunism on this issue. Dither, delay and incompetence, definitely, but not opportunism.

Actually there is a lot of support for Heathrow rwy expansion throughout the UK, especially among northern Labour MPs and, of course, SNP MPs.

Why is the support of MAN so peepoor on all sides, it is totally disproportionate to the size of the place ?
Who says that it is? The issue is on this occasion is Heathrow rwy expansion, so MPs are taking a view on that.

Why is that taken as "peepoor" support for Ringway?

Edinburgh-China link
Edinburgh in bid to lure Scotland's first direct flight with China (From Evening Times)

Now it's a lot going on with 3 airports competing for direct flights to Mainland China
A choice of EDI, GLA or MAN?

My money’s on MAN, but not for a while.
