I once arrived outside the old terminal early one morning and there were three IL76s on the south apron. The fuselages were shrouded in shallow fog with just the tails showing. It looked just like three whales diving. Of course, no camera, no phone with a camera in those days. Missed the shot!
When I was a Responsible Person under the ANO with the power to prohibit flight (Ooer!) my attention was drawn to a particular IL76 whose tyres were showing vast amounts of canvas. After consulting Men from the Ministry it was considered 'tertiary' and the aircraft allowed to depart.
