at Manchester we have 3 crossing points and with a 4 mile gap I can cross 3 acft . 3nm is not used because if the gap closes below 3miles you have lost separation.With reference to departures all of Manchesters easterly sids except one require 2 mins between departures, plenty of time to cross acft
