I think you should listen to what Metro Man is saying.
Manchester to the ME in an Emirates A380 would be lovely, it is the 3 hour onward flight in Economy to Mumbai that will be the issue and might make the BA premium a bargain.
The same applies to any other routing via the ME.
Have you looked at alternatives routings via FRA, CDG, AMS which would probably reduce the APD and hence overall costs?
