Bartending, serving, these are all SERVICE industry positions. You are there to SERVE your customer, you're not there to teach them how you believe one should consume THEIR food and beverage.
If the dude asks for a glass with ice, bring the guy a glass with ice, it ain't rocket surgery, but it sure as heck will effect your tip. Heck some women drink beer with a straw so they don't smear their lipstick, personally the idea of beer from a plastic straw has zero appeal for me, but the bartender is not the one drinkin the beer, paying the tab, or calculating the tip.... just bring the damn straw.
It's really not hard to provide good service, be nice, make sure no ones drink is empty and most importantly get the order right, be it cooking a steak med-rare or bringing a glass with ice.
Or just realize you're not going to make much money in tips, and you suck at your job.
