Before you all get on the outrage bus, you are asking the wrong person (I don't know why the changes were made) but the changes were made
after the introduction of the new prop
following the blade failures
. I assume Lycoming have approved the use of the engine at 2700 because it is the "max continuous" for the engine - not saying that there aren't different, maybe better ways of operating the engine but it's all been tested and approved by the owners of the aircraft.
