In the ten years I've worked for my current airline, 3 pilots have committed suicide. 2 hung themselves when they started failing their type rating, and were told they would be binned with £23,500 of dept still to pay. One when he was chucked off a command course he should have never been on in the first place.
What are we told about? Make sure your BMI is under 40!
Thankfully there now appears to be a real shortage of suitably qualified crews, and airlines willing to pay for their services.
