VH-WST at Bankstown in June 1973 Photo by Dave Eyre
This one was operated by Skyway Airlines on a commuter run out of Sydney to Gunnedah Quirindi and Wee Waa
The owner of the company and the Dove was Alan Baker from Wee Waa. He was big in cotton.
WST suffered a midair over Bankstown in March 1974. The other aircraft was a PA30 Twin Comanche. Fatal to all -
one in the Dove and three in the PA30.
Alan employed me to fly WST for three months in the latter half of 1973. It was a single pilot operation.
Having learned on Chippies, it became apparent that the Dove had handling characteristics in some ways as sweet as the Chippie.
See Geoff Goodall's website for a detailed history of all Doves in service in Australia.
