I understand the decision to send EBH/I back to the lessors was made some time ago (during the darkest days) and, due to the aircraft being placed elsewhere, that decision couldn't be reversed.
....a bit like the hastily made decision to cancel the acquisition of a pair of 744 freighters that only had six months flying on the clock and were being purchased for a song. Short sighted management running amok once more. An opportunity lost as the aircraft were snapped up by somebody else with some foresight.
