Compare and/or contrast BA's expanding pilot numbers with any other legacy carrier in the world?

I presume you are insinuating that without BALPA, IAG would not have brought BMI into BA? Or maybe that without BALPA, IAG would not have made the decision to purchase the A380 or the 787? Or perhaps it is that without BALPA, EASA would never have put us in a position where BA pilots are currently considerably more productive than the harsher FTLs will allow? Or that without BALPA there would never have been a change to UK age legislation which resulted in pilots being able to work for BA an additional ten years, and so the retirement rate is only just now starting to recover to normal?
