It happened on my flight recently,just as ACARS winds aloft was requested (CDU2),the left FMC failed and associated VTK/MAP displayed along with A/T disconnect,VNAV stayed in Vnav path.
As the FMC failed checklist was opened,the fault restored itself.
So ACARS winds requested again which triggered the same fault.
Request of winds aloft was then requested via CDU1 and same fault.
Decision was to stop
around with this acars winds and fault was recorded.
The ACARS loader was in standard NORMAL position..would have setting it to FMC position helped?
What could have been the problem?
