Funny you should bring that up! In years of flying in Northern Australia I never had issues with icing but certainly did with vapour locking!
We always went carby heat cold before landing to avoid dust through the un filtered carby heat system on the ground.

So, you need to modify your techniques to cater for different weather situations.
