Agreed 100%, your take on Nigeria as a country is spot on. Perhaps I didn't couch my observation in the correct way; my point was that UK, the EEC and the USA also have any number of very capable intelligent people, but even we sleepwalk into crises.

Here in the UK we have had a government that sold our gold reserves at the lowest possible price while running the Exchequer like a melting credit card followed by one that with the best of intentions (perhaps) has left us with upwards of a million people using charity food banks. Multi-national conglomerates pay next to nil tax while householders are hounded, sometimes losing their homes in the process. In terms of poor governance and corruption Greece are now paying the price. And so on.

I was trying to point out that while Nigeria allows a privileged few to squander at the expense of the masses they are not unique and they have an excellent but largely untapped HR resource, some of whom I have had the pleasure of working with.
