there has been no recruitment so to speak of in recent times.
If the company think you will be a good fit, then you are in. Plenty of people in their 50's (a couple in their 60's) here who came back from UK, Asia etc in the last lot of recruitment and are now happily ensconced in the system. Are they captains? Not yet. Will they ever be again? Maybe. Maybe not. But that is not what was important to them when they applied.
No conspiracy. Just looking for the right people. If you miss out, I guarantee it won't be on age.
