On a similar note, there were apparently cases of WAAFs flying un officially on Bomber Command operations. This is from Max Hastings Bomber Command:
It was not unknown for Bomber Command crews to take
occasional passengers on operations. Some were authorized –
station commanders or reporters. Others were quite illicit – members
of ground crew and in extremely isolated cases, WAAFs. The
