Via Air Humberside: Adria Airways has said its new seasonal service between Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport and London Southend, which is to launch on June 1, is selling “better than expected”. The Slovenian carrier will operate the route three times per week, eeach Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with a mix of Airbus A319 and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft. Although services are scheduled to run until September 29, Adria says it is considering extending the flights, with a final decision to be made by the end of the month. The route marks the first time Adria has operated scheduled flights from Slovenia’s second largest city in fifteen years. Previously, the carrier’s CEO, Mark Anžur, said the airline aims to develop Maribor into a low cost hub, with additional flights to be added in 2016.
