A bit too much pessimism here I feel.. It's a great airport that has done really well.. Every start up pauses for breath.. Work on the a127 is constant. It's not the road width but the many junctions as you approach Southend that cause the problems. These are addressed almost constantly one after the other.
It will never be a motorway and the airport will never attract enough traffic to warrant smashing a spur road through rochford and the surrounding countryside. The rail line will at some stage be as good as c2c.. But these things take time .. Consolidation is no bad thing.. And a few more years track record of being an successful small easy jet base will attract future customers.
