Well I finally did it ! I've gone solo at last.
I was a little concerned at the date (Friday 13th) but I had my lucky rabbits foot , 4 leaf clover and I'd avoided all ladders for the last week !!!
But the real deciding factor was the weather ! it was so good I bunked off work and booked 2 lessons this morning.
After my last lesson a couple of weeks ago which was a bit of a nightmare on the landing front I was expecting to spent a few more hours bashing the circuit trying to get the landings sorted. But after about 45 mins in the circuit and a couple of landings that surprised me (i.e. they were actually reasonable ! ) Bob ,my instructor, got out and I had a C152 and runway 28 at Manston to myself. The actual circuit was uneventful apart from the fact I was talking to my self all the way round !, the landing was OK as well , no fillings loosened and the aircraft was usable !
The second lesson was even better I spent 35mins solo (including about 10 mins orbiting while a 747 cargo plane landed) and 3 reasonable landings.
The only problem is I may have to have surgery to get rid of this silly grin I've had on my face since I climbed out of the aircraft !
Anyway it's only the start of the process but it's a great confidence booster.
I must say a big thanks to my Instructor Bob whose patience has got me this far.
Regards to all
Peter
