Are you saying that keeping those skills honed somehow will increase the accident rates ?
I am saying that
despite pilots today being
perceived to have less skill, we are in reality still
much safer compared to the "golden-years" era some here like to reminisce about. And automatics is a large part of the reason why.
A ton of those "highly skilled" pilots from the 1960s and 70s bought the farm, at an accident rate which would be
completely unacceptable today! Some just choose not to remember it that way.
