Bad idea unless you build them to rent.
Never sell off bits of the airfield, your land is your best and often only way to a sustainable airfield. Make the land work for you to provide a long term income, landing fees will never pay the upkeep of the airfield.

hangar space, workshops, anything rented, sheep, cabbages - take your choice but never sell off bits of land.
