One recalls many years ago at an open day display practice at (IIRC) Chiv, one of the Ginos from the Frecce dug a wingtip into the (fortunately soft and muddy) grass.
By the evening celebrations, the Chiv groundcrew had recovered the nav light from the divot
, had it mounted on a polished wooden plaque, and presented it to the Italians .......
....... who were allowed to display the next day.
And of course that was years before Ramstein......
But that was then ................
