The runway at Southend is narrower than standard - 37m instead of 45m, therefore (for EZY at least) the crosswind limits are lower than they would be at an airfield equipped with a standard width runway.
On a day like today its the gusts that are putting the wind out of limits, so its a question of luck and timing as to whether you get in or not.....
