I am only SLF, but have been reading pprune for several months. IMEsperto's assertion that US media buried the story of the Fairfax district crash has moved me to register so I could post the information that it simply isn't true. I live in Los Angeles (in fact, about 1.5 miles from the crash site) and our media -- tv, radio, newspaper -- was saturated with the news. And I'm pretty sure it was covered that evening on the national tv news (tho perhaps not on the east coast broadcast, due to timing; the national evening news broadcasts are often updated for the west coast feed). There have been days of follow-ups on tv, including re the medical progress of one of the victims who was in the apartment building, who was airlifted to a burn center. And I saw at least one interview with another pilot based at Santa Monica airport who apparently knew the pilot of the crashed plane.

I checked pprune a few times over the weekend for a relevant thread, wondering at first why I couldn't find one, then concluding that the crash must have been too insignificant and only of local interest.

I have no special knowledge of the event, but just wanted to post this information.
