As I am from that region in the Netherlands I would be jumping up and down from joy if that route would start but the actual Dutch article only states that the airport is negotiating with a few airlines and only mentions FlyBe by name.
Apparent justification is the high volume of business travellers (without giving any figures though) but anyone travelling from the north of NL and neighbouring Germany has to travel at least 2 hours to get to AMS or a bit less to get to Hamburg.
I believe RyanAir ceased MAN - Bremen which is not that far from GRQ so there might be a gap but I would be highly (yet pleasantly) surprised if this one would go ahead.
Groningen is a lovely little hidden gem in the far north of NL though. Worth a visit
Not sure Flybe would like to step on their own toes operating both AMS and GRQ, as the AMS service already seems to be struggling.
Didn't they briefly operate Den Helder from MAN last year before dropping it?
