Money is always a factor so the more free/ minimal cost you can get the better.
Attracting participants to an interesting venue that they have not been to (tick in a box stuff) works.
BAe just across the water could fit the bill.

Also find out foreign air force visits such as ACMI or other exercises during or in a day or so of your show.
September is a good month for exercise visitors and is also the BofB month.
