Airman's Medal ranks pretty high in the listing.

Amidst all the technicolour chest-fest it might not have the prominence of UK awards, but his peers would know what he earned.
Outstanding work, that man

Compare and contrast with the Bronze Star [Medal ] which, without the 'V' insignia, could be awarded to a jolly good chap in the Ops Room far away from the fighting for being 'meritorious'. There are bits of the US Awards system that really do my head in some times.
