Help re: LAPL medical after brain tumour. Only meet DVLA Class 1 medical standards
Hi folks,
5 years I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had 2 seizures. As a result I lost my JAR class 1 medical and with it my CPL, IR etc.
Years ago I remember reading that the NPPL allowed those with a DVLA Class 1 licence (cars, motobikes and vehicles less than 3.5 tonnes) to have a limited medical (solo and with an instructor only) if one had been clear of any tumour related seizures for 5 years.
Is this still the case with the NPPL? I have searched through the internet and the CAA site which states that those who can only achieve a DVLA Class 1 medical standard need referral to an AME, but I can't find anything out beyond that.
Does anyone know if one can get a LAPL with a DVLA Class 1 medical, and if so what sort of time needs to have elapsed between the last treatment/seizure and application for the medical.
And yes I am aware of the associated risks, but would probably only fly with an instructor any way.
